Our Commitment

The Haines City Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards so that residents, business owners, and visitors can access information about our programs, projects, and services.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

The Haines City CRA website strives to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We regularly review the site and address issues as they are identified.

Accessibility Features

We have built the following accessibility features into the site:

• Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
• Keyboard navigation support across all interactive elements
• Visible focus indicators for users navigating with a keyboard
• Descriptive alt text for meaningful images and decorative images marked as such
• Color contrast that meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
• Skip-to-main-content link for keyboard and screen reader users
• Form fields with associated labels and accessible error messages
• Auto-rotating image carousels can be paused, and respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting
• Before/after sliders are operable by mouse, touch, and keyboard
• Responsive layout that works at 320px width and supports up to 200% zoom without loss of content or functionality
• Google Translate integration for multi-language access

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some content on this site may not yet be fully accessible. Areas of ongoing improvement include:

• Third-party embedded content (e.g., maps) may not always meet the same accessibility standards. We provide text alternatives and downloadable PDFs where possible.
• Some legacy PDF documents may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We are working to remediate or replace these. Please contact us if you need an accessible version of any document.
